Entertaiment is amusement or distraction, a clown at a birthday party, a Broadway show, the stadium rock concert, your friends fighting over the last potato chip–all of these and more are forms of entertainment. The word comes from the Old French entretenement, and it’s related to the Latin intertenere, meaning “to hold inside.” In this issue of T E News–the fall 2011 edition–we take a look at the transformation of what appears to be entertainment into a multibillion-dollar industry.
