The Daily News

Daily News

The New York Daily News is a morning tabloid newspaper published in the city of New York. It has been published since 1919, with a circulation of over 200,000 copies a day. Since its founding, the Daily News has risen to become one of the nation’s top newspapers.

With its bold presentation, the Daily News is able to appeal to a wide range of readers. From celebrity gossip to intense city news coverage, the Daily News is sure to have something to please everyone. Additionally, the paper includes large photographs that are a great entertainment feature. In addition, there are classified ads and a sports section. Moreover, the paper is available through mobile phones, tablets, and computers.

As the first tabloid newspaper in the United States, the Daily News gained a reputation as a moderate, liberal alternative to the right-wing New York Post. After a series of mergers, it was purchased by Tronc, a Chicago-based media company. Afterward, the newspaper was sold to Tribune Publishing, a diversified publishing company. This company purchased the Daily News in 2017 for a total of $1.

Despite the change in ownership, the Daily News has managed to continue providing strong coverage of local news and sports. During the past several years, the Daily News has had a slightly more liberal editorial stance. For instance, it has been a member of the AllSides Media Bias Rating of Left. While the rating is a good indicator of a newspaper’s political agenda, it does not necessarily reflect the opinions of all its readers.

Despite the changes in ownership, the Daily News has survived and continues to be one of the top selling newspapers in the country. Even so, the daily publication is not currently published on weekends.

When the Daily News launched in 1920, the newspaper was known for its lurid photographs and sensational coverage of crime. By the late 1940s, the paper had a circulation of more than 1.5 million. In 1947, the paper reached a peak circulation of 2.4 million.

In 1991, the newspaper became a property of Tribune, the same company that owns the TV station WPIX. Although WPIX is no longer broadcasting, the newspaper’s former building remains. In fact, it was the model for the Daily Planet building in the 1994 Superman film.

The Daily News has won many awards for its reporting and commentary. Specifically, the paper has won 11 Pulitzer Prizes.

Though the paper has been in financial trouble for decades, it has remained one of the country’s top-selling newspapers. Today, the Daily News is owned by Tribune Publishing, a diversified publishing company that also owns the Orlando Sentinel. However, after the pandemic, Tribune Publishing began to impose pay cuts and furloughs. Those employees started campaigns to save their publications.

Though the Daily News has had a less-than-stellar reputation for coverage of politics, the paper has been credited with giving voice to the voiceless. Through its investigative reporting and the use of photographs, the Daily News has helped to expose corrupt practices. At the same time, the paper has also won Pulitzer Prizes for its commentary and feature writing.
