What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment

Entertaiment is the consumption of an art form such as film, television, theater or music for enjoyment and pleasure. The word derives from the medieval Latin intertenere, which means to hold inside or confine something. The prefix inter refers to “inside,” while the suffix tenere stems from the Indo-European root of ten, which means to stretch or extend. Entertaiment can also refer to a female entertainer who exposes her breast while she performs.

According to Oliver and Barstsch (2010), entertainment can be defined as an activity understood objectively, which communicates between text and audience, provides an external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience and is a passive activity.
